Angklung is a traditional Indonesia’s instrument made of two bamboo tubes attached to a bamboo frame. Each tubes can resembles one specific note, ranging up to three octaves. The correct way to play an angklung is by holding the base of the frame in one hand, and another hand gently strikes them. The harder you shakes, the more resonance will be produced. Causing loud or soft a tone is vibration frequency stability per second and the distance difference right hand is used to shake. In other words, angklung amplitude of vibration is the cause of soft and hard dynamics.
The first angklung aged 400 years old, made in 17th century in Jasinga, Bogor.
The unique part of angklung is that each instrument has the ability to produce sound of only one specific note. Smaller angklung produces higher notes while bigger ones, the lower notes. Angklung performances gives the chords and rhythm to the presentation of the song, it can also sometimes be played using the accompaniments, such as piano. (MC)
